Green Worker Cooperatives
Position Title: Co-op Developer / ReBuilders Source Manager
GREEN WORKER COOPERATIVES is a South Bronx-based organization dedicated to incubating worker-owned cooperatives in the South Bronx that are good to the earth. We are promoters of an alternative economic model for earning a living that doesn't require polluting the earth or exploiting human labor. We do this because we believe that your work shouldn't kill you, your community, or the earth.
REBUILDERS SOURCE is the first cooperative to be incubated by Green Worker Cooperatives. ReBuilders Source is a discount retailer of salvaged and surplus building materials, such as cabinetry; flooring; and doors. It is the first reuse center for building materials structured as a worker cooperative. By putting used building materials back into circulation, ReBuilders Source reduces waste while providing quality building materials at discount prices to contractors; homeowners; and do-it yourselfers. The members of the ReBuilders Source cooperative operate as a collective and are all South Bronx residents with a strong commitment to their community and the environment.
The Co-op Developer / RBS Manager will facilitate the growth and development of the cooperative such that the members are eventually able to self-manage all operations. The Co-op Developer will then transition from ReBuilders Source and assist the growth and development of future GWC-incubated worker cooperatives.
